Rancho Vikingo is a magical place and we are doing magical things by introducing the first commercial hydroponic farm to Nicaragua.
Our goal is to prove our system and then distribute it to small communities throughout Nicaragua and Latin America. Hydroponic farming is sustainable, environmentally friendly and compact. We will provide rural communities with the opportunity to boost their production capacity not only for local consumption but for commercial markets as well.
Rancho Vikingo strongly believes in community development. Our plans include the construction of an onsite clinic with medical care available for the local community. We have adopted one local school and will expand this program to include schools in the surrounding communities of La Trinidad, Casares and La Boquita.
Rancho Vikingo hosts a children's Christmas Party every year and in 2007 over 450 children (1200 people total) attended for gifts, food, fun, and games. For many children, this was the only Christmas they had. Please see our photo albums for more details.
Rancho Vikingo is dedicated to the proposition that we can bring economic development and positive social change through more the efficient production of food.
